Trump Pushes The 50-Year
Mortgage But Is It A Good Idea
November 17. 2025

Donald Trump
U.S. President Donald Trump is
in the middle of a financial crisis, and much of
it is of his own making, due to ill-advised
tariffs he slapped on foreign product coming
into America. It has domestically created the
worst inflation in modern times that is
bankrupting Americans and plunged many nations
into a recession.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit
Trump was President of the United States (his
first term). Property prices in America began to
skyrocket, as people became afraid of the virus
and sought somewhere to hunker down that was
their own. Almost 6-years later and these
property prices still have not come down.
Homeownership is now out of reach for most
Americans.
What did President Trump propose
as a potential solution to the problem? Enter
the 50-year mortgage. This is a terrible idea.
The average mortgage in America is 30-years.
Considering most Americans purchase a home in
their very late twenties to forties, the 50-year
mortgage will outstrip the life expectancy of
the average American.
This means people would drop
dead before they pay off the mortgage, then the
banks would foreclose. The banks would get the
homes back when they are almost paid off and
make even more profit, in what was essentially a
lifetime of financial servitude for the alleged
homeowner. This would profit Trump who has
investments in banks and other lending
institutions, and his cronies who run these
corporations.
