U.S. President Barack Obama scrapped the planned missile shield of former President George W. Bush, due to the intense political problems it created. Bush’s missile shield would have seen strategic weaponry placed in Poland and Czechoslovakia, to counteract possible missile launches from countries such as Iran.

The planned presence of missiles pointing at Russia caused a massive row in the region that endangered the shield’s host nations and America. Bush's missile shield was penetrable anyway and causing offense in vain. By all means, nations should be protected, but in a manner that does not endanger them in other ways.
